Dear colleagues,

As part of our activities during Snowmass21, we discussed and wrote white papers on possible ways the accelerator simulation community can come together to jointly develop tools and standards to help with simulation code development and usage, comparisons between codes and with experiments, etc.

Of particular interest was the creation of a lattice standard to promote the exchange of lattices. Along with this, the importance of documenting the differences between different programs was recognized.

To this end, we are organizing all interested people to create a lattice standard. If you are interested in being part of this, please email both the organizers at:
    "Jean-Luc Vay" <jl...@lbl.gov>, "David Sagan" <david...@cornell.edu>

in preparation to this activity, Axel Huebl has created a GitHub repository and, to facilitate things, we have drafted an initial scope and roadmap for the effort: https://github.com/campa-consortium/lattice-standard/blob/main/README.md

A Meeting will be scheduled to discuss the process. To accommodate as many people as possible, a Doodle poll to choose the meeting time will be conducted shortly.

Sincerely,
David Sagan and Jean-Luc Vay
