New documentation - EOIR codebook and government documents repository

[Deportation Data Updates]

Dear all,

Today, we posted two new sets of data documentation. 

First, we posted a codebook for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) Case Dataset. The documentation describes each table and the data fields (columns) in each dataset and our best understanding of what each one means. The codebook represents the work of scholars and practitioners who use the Case Dataset in their work, and is a work in progress. We welcome feedback!

Second, we posted over 200 government documents describing data from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. Some are outdated; we are actively seeking updates. The documents include privacy impact statements and statements of record notices that describe government data, and internal documents obtained under FOIA. Many were obtained under a FOIA request by the ACLU of Southern California, the National Immigration Project, and Mission Action. We will continue to add documents we obtain, and we would be happy to post any documents you would like to share (and credit you).
