In the Deportation Data Project’s most recent ICE data release, which runs through October 15, 2025, we did not post the removals or encounters files that ICE provided. We post them now, despite our view that they likely contain significant errors, because we have not received a satisfactory explanation or a corrected version from ICE. In a post, we explain the problems we have identified in the removals and encounters data.

In addition, we posted a new processed dataset drawing on the October 15, 2025 ICE data release that includes daily counts of the number of people detained at each detention facility in the US from September 1, 2023, to October 15, 2025. The data also include counts for demographic subgroups. As with all of our processed datasets, we posted the code and an explanation of our data cleaning steps.
