Dear members of the LAPS school board.
I had the pleasure of listening to the forum last night and I would like to take a moment to appreciate the comments that Ms. Green shared about equity, inclusion and resilience.
As a mom of LAPS alumni and a health professional and educator, I think it is important to have people on the school board who recognize that the work of a school district is to ensure equity of access and excellent education through promoting the health and wellbeing of all the teachers, staff, and students. Ms. Green emphasized a commitment to listening and really hearing and understanding the barriers that members of the LAPS community encounter, as part of her problem solving process. I think this is really important. She also illustrated her philosophy of finding ways for everyone to flourish, and in my opinion, she seems like an excellent choice as an emerging mental health professional and person who is dedicated to diversity and inclusion, for this position.
