Paid Contract Days

Hello there,

My name is Rebecca Martinez, I work for Student Services here at LAPS as a Data Specialist.

I wanted to bring up a concern of mine as a single parent about the holiday breaks without pay. Through my 249 contract I do not get paid for the week of winter break and I don't get paid for Thanksgiving break either. We also aren't given the option to work during that week. I am a single mom and I had to get a second job to make up for that week to be able to pay my rent and bills. I would like to see if it would be possible to change this by at least allowing us the opportunity to work if we would like to during these breaks or at least be able to request PTO. I would really appreciate you all looking into this as it matters to a lot of us who are single and aren't able to find a job for a week and a half to make up for that time.
