Dear school board members,
I am writing to express my frustration with the changes made to next year's school calendar and the lack of communication with parents regarding those changes.
Attached is the "approved calendar" that Principal Austell emailed to parents yesterday, Sunday May 24. Second is the calendar that is on the LAPS website - with noticeable differences between the two.
The school calendar has a significant impact on family schedules, childcare arrangements, work commitments, and vacation planning. Changes should be communicated clearly and proactively, with an explanation of the reasoning behind them and adequate opportunity for parent awareness and feedback.
Parents deserve timely communication about decisions that affect our families. I'd like to understand the steps that the district will take to improve transparency - especially around the creation of the calendar.
