I am curious why the school board is not meeting in person tonight. Is it because it isn't yet safe to be in a room with less than ten others for two hours? Because you haven't been vaccinated yet?
I would like you to think about this as you decide whether or not to send teachers back into the buildings with students. At the middle school there could be up to 300 students in the building - without counting staff at all.
Would you, personally, be comfortable with that situation? If your answer is no, then how can you vote to send teachers into the schools? You are forcing teachers to choose between their careers and their lives or the lives of their families.
It would be different if teachers were at least vaccinated first. But the reality is that most are not.
This is not even approaching the subject of what a teacher with elementary aged children is supposed to do with their children while they are working.
This plan is too rushed.
