Interim-Superintendent Guy,  President Colgan, and members of the LAPS School Board,

I am writing about the frightening lack of transparency currently being shown by LAPS.  The last minute change to make tonight's meeting in person only is completely unacceptable.  When the calendar of School Board Meetings was posted, it stated that ALL meetings would be streamed.

While the information that went out listed the location as Chamisa, and did not have zoom information, any reference to an in person only meeting occurred in the last several hours.  To go from going from streamed meetings for over a year, and then abruptly having an meeting that cuts out online availability is a slap in the face to all of the involved parents and teachers that have been extremely involved in the last year.   A change of this magnitude, needs to have attention drawn to it.  Intentional or not, this meeting is not open to everyone.  Ms Guy stated that the change was made "because schools are open."  But there are many families who have chosen to remain online because they are not comfortable in person, whether due to medically fragile family members, or for other reasons.  Then there are also the families that are currently in quarantine after a covid exposure.  Removing a remote option at this stage is ill advised at best.

Tonight's meeting aside, this is part of a broader problem with transparency.  The LAPS covid cases document has not been updated since 9/16, despite the fact that at least two schools have had positive cases in that timeframe.  Most people take no news as good news, but in this situation, that has not been the case.  Los Alamos deserves transparency.

Thank you,
