As a registered nurse who regularly cares for COVID-19+ patients, I must object to students be allowed to return to organized sports. This virus is too easily spread and is not presently well controlled. I have seen too many people die alone, suffer long term illness, and permanent damage from this virus. Allowing students to participate in athletics is irresponsible and dangerous. We are no where near the end of this pandemic and rushing into a decision because coaches and parents want their children to play a sport would needlessly result in harm. Please do not underestimate the danger and devastation returning to sports will cause.
I implore you to not be pressured by those who have no first hand knowledge of the horrific nature of this virus.
