I am the parent of 2 LAHS students, one in 9th and one in 12th.
I completely support the move to a hybrid model of learning... and 100% onsite learning if possible.
We have had low cases of the virus in Los Alamos County. We have had almost 6 months to become accustomed to wearing masks and socially distancing. We are using the aisles in the grocery stores to keep traffic flowing and support social distancing. I believe the same concept could be applied to hallways and stairwells at the high school. It is also reasonable that most high-school age students can be expected to wear PPE and keep distanced as a part of the school day.
Both of my students need to be on campus. They need to interact with their peers and with their teachers. They need less screen time and more human interaction.
As a community, we need to show our children that we will adapt and adjust to the challenges brought on by the virus, not hide from them.
Thank you,
Sarah
