Dear Ms. Gelfand,

Thanks for reaching out and thinking about internet connectivity for our students, families and teachers.

The answer to your question is yes, we have had and will continue to have conversations with NMPED, LAPS technical staff, and local internet service providers about capacity and reliability of home and school internet service.  When school starts on August 13th, monitoring bandwidth and capacity will be an hourly exercise.  We will work with ISPs and make adjustments, as needed.  For example, reducing the use of videos, switching between camera on and camera off and working with individual homes that need higher connection speeds or a hot spot.

Yesterday, I held seven Google Meets sessions (one for each LAPS school) that included information about technology applications for learning.

Best Personal Regards,
Kurt
