I am unable to attend the zoom meeting, but would like to express my concern that this issue has not been well-vetted with the community at large. Adding 1000 new inhabitants on any of our mesas creates a whole range of issues that need to be researched and discussed before any type of decision is made.
Our school board needs to make sure it is looking out for the long-term interest of our students. That should be the number one priority of any school board. Population growth modeling can be done to determine what our school building needs will be 5 years, 10 years, 20 years and even further into the future. Time, energy and resources spent on this now will pay off in the future.
The sewer, water, electric and demand on the roads will all rise with that kind of an increase in population. This needs to be credibly studied before a decision is made.
I would ask that the school board take a step back and get answers to the questions raised above and solicit input from the community at large before it makes such an impactful decision.
Respectfully,
