Hello, As previously emailed to the County Council, please do not add more courts to Western Area Park. We are longtime residents of the Western Area and walk our dogs daily in the open space area near the current tennis courts. We play tennis regularly with our kids at this location and there is always a free court. In fact, I've never been there when more than two of the 4 courts are being used.
The open space is an important spot in this area and serves the needs of MANY local walkers and dog owners during their daily and often even twice-daily walks. It is the only space in our neighborhood that has a smooth sidewalk alongside an open area for moms with child strollers to lap for exercise while older kids and dogs are free to roam within eyesight. Our treasured local wildlife also uses this area at night.
This little open space with its pine trees is important to the Western Area park. Please consider alternate locations for more courts.
Thank you,
