Dear School Board Members,

I want to express my support for Jennifer Guy as the Interim Superintendent and would ask that she remain on the Covid response team.  She has done a great job with a difficult situation.  I appreciate her trying to compromise and find a solution for all students and parents, when there are so many opinions on the COVID virus.  I would ask that we continue to support her as she follows the recommendations coming from the state.

As a parent of an elementary student and two high school students, I would ask that we not implement further COVID restrictions on students.  Especially since the numbers are dropping and the Omicron variant is not as dangerous as the previous variants.  I also believe that further restrictions are going to cause more emotional harm, which in my opinion is more dangerous than COVID at this time.  I do not think we should look into going back to online learning as it has shown to be harmful to students learning as well.  I know it was very difficult for my kids.

I would ask that the school board look at how many people are asking for further restrictions and how many are content with things the way they are.  I would ask before you administer further restrictions that you send out a survey to parents, so that you can make sure that you are truly serving the needs and desires of the parents and students.

I appreciate those who are serving on the school board, but I would ask that you please talk with those that you serve.  If you do not have students that have gone through a COVID school year, then you do not truly understand what it is like.  There is a reason that more students are not online.  Please allow the students and parents to make the decision that is best for them.

Thank you for your time.
