To Whom It May Concern:

I am very happy to hear that the School Board and County Council are exploring a possible partnership that could allow for the expansion of the gym size at one or both of the elementary schools in White Rock.  In addition to the direct benefit to the schools for their daily programming needs, this most certainly would help address a long standing need for additional space to accommodate community programming needs.  Creating full size competitive gym space would be an increadible amenity for our community.

For many years different groups have had to compete for the limited existing space to run community programs, often resulting in frustration and disappointment for participants who are unable to obtain the needed space for their programs.  Additionally, The YMCA has discussed with LAPS for some time now the need to initiate an intramural sports programs for those youth interested in playing but who don’t make the competive team.  The most significant hurdle for this clearly has been a lack of gym space to run this programming.  As our community continues to grow the need for this space will increase as well.  Again, I am very excited to hear about this possibility and would like to support the idea and effort in any we can.

Attached is a formal copy of this letter.

Have a good weekend,
