Hello again- one month later from my last email and I have yet to receive a response. 

We are now coming up to November and no mention of a school calendar for 24-25 yet. As a parent and a working parent, this is extremely frustrating as there is no way to plan out the year.

Summer camps for the kids will be opening up at the end of November or December and unless a start date of the school year can be committed to, people will sign up and commit with no regard to the beginning of the school year. 

I have seen online and have friends contact me about “if I heard anything yet” as I have been a very vocal person regarding the need for out year calendars. What I have heard is that a lot of people are just making plans for what works for them instead of considering when school starts. 

If the plan is to wait until the spring to decide when school starts, a large financial burden is being placed on parents who are taking their children on vacation, camp, family visits if they choose to wait until spring to make a plan. Airline tickets in the summer are always at their peak and if parents wait until a new calendar is out then the tickets can easily be 2-4 times the prices. 

Please, just commit to a school start date soon! If need be, figure out the rest of the calendar later.

In the past when there were calendars three years out planned, it was very useful and helpful.

As a parent and a member of the Los Alamos workforce, not being able to plan out in the future is very frustrating. 

Last spring, as I recall , during the meetings of this year calendar, the school board committee committed to discuss and decide on this in the fall. And we are now entering fall but there is no communication about this.

Please start the communications about this (internally and externally) and make it a swift process.
