Hello LA School Board Members,
I am writing the School Board to inquire about the Los Alamos School Calendar. Last year, there was a designated calendar committee, as well as, a survey asking the public's preference for school breaks. The Los Alamos local paper stated the results of that survey - most having a preference for Calendar A, which had the longest number of weeks in the Summer and no Fall break - also, Board Members stated in that article that the 2023 School Year would be a trial run with a combination of Calendar A and Calendar C.
The draft for School Year Calendar 2024-25, posted on the LAPS web page, looks a lot like this year's calendar with 3 large breaks one after another, starting with Fall break, followed by Thanksgiving break, and 2 weeks for Winter break. Please provide more information on why the Board has posted a Draft calendar with 3 big breaks so close together in the middle of the school year. Also, is there a calendar committee for this year? Will that committee be asking for the public's preference again?
Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.
V/R,
Zandrea Glenn
