To the board members of the Los Alamos School District-
I am the mother of 5 students in the LAPS system. 2 at LAHS, 2 at LAMS and one at Barranca Mesa Elm. It is with significant concern I address the possible removal of J. Guy on the Covid task force in an effort to replace her with outside-of district entities. It is NOT in the best interest of the students or district to replace J. Guy. It is NOT in the best interest of the students or district to regress in its response to Covid. If J. Guy is removed from her position on the task force it will be as a result of the few, loud voices of those who have already railroaded and bullied some members of the school board, district and community into the paralyzing place we currently are in. Our students have been made to feel like agents of death and destruction. They are constantly reprimanded and criticized for not following protocols when they are doing their best to do everything “right”. Our teachers have had to prioritize implementing “health and safety” protocols over educating and mentoring their students. We cannot continue this way! J. Guy must be allowed to continue to help our district move forward in these difficult times.
