The proposal to build low income housing for 1000 people on the LAPS land east of the Middle School seems ill considered and most likely completely disregards the wishes and needs of the existing population. There was a survey taken of residents in the past year or so for their responses to several different plans for developing this land. I am sure no one on North Mesa favored a high density development. Was our input at the time simply disregarded? Is this just a money making scheme with no regard for current residents? And, if this is the last parcel of open LAPS land perhaps the schools should retain it in case they need to build another school sometime in the future. There are two other open parcels of land on North Mesa - one private and the other that I believe the County owns near the stables, dog park and tennis courts. But we need to consider safety and infrastructure before simply physically packing in as many housing units as possible.
