In support of partnering with LAPS on gyms

Dear LA Council members,

I am a 31-year resident of the community whose 3 children grew up in the community utilizing county, Y and school sports programs. Plus, I work at the Y and have seen the pressures on our local gym resources. Five years ago, I was also a member of a group of users for all of our local facilities that was hosted by LAPS as part of their Rentals review committee: among all the users groups attending those meetings, there was consensus that our community was about 5 gymnasiums short of being able to address needs at that time.

I am writing as an individual citizen throwing my support around LAC partnering with LAPS to expand the two elementary gyms for Pinon and Chamisa schools to be full size gyms, and that LAC fund the difference. This would be one efficient way to address the shortage- essentially by adding the NET a 1 new gym (the two half gyms were in existence prior), LAC will help bring down the outstanding need for space to 4 gyms.
