Los Alamos Community Winds @ LAHS

If the leader of the Los Alamos Community Winds could not pass a background check, is it appropriate for his band to be practicing in the LAHS Band Rm? This places a convicted sex offender in proximity to students who may still be on campus with after school activities. 

If my understanding is incorrect and his ability to pass a background check does not preclude his personal involvement at the high school, please educate me on this matter.
