Good evening Board President, Superintendent, and members of the board.
My name is Raquel Peña, and I am the campaign manager for 24/7, which is a program supported by the New Mexico Department of Health to help school districts adopt 100% tobacco-free policies.

While I've only been in this position since January of 2020, it came to my attention that LAPS adopted 24/7's tobacco policy in August of 2018 for students, staff and visitors, joining 13 other school districts across the state. But it appears that the LAPS website still has the old tobacco district policies from years ago listed instead of the updated version that was provided by the 24/7 campaign.

I have since sent the updated policy language to Ms. Goettee to upload online, but if this is not the correct person to reach out to about this, I'd be happy to contact the right person in order to ensure that the strongest tobacco policy is visible to anyone and everyone that searches for it.

If the district is in need of additional tobacco-free signage to install around campus, we can also provide these for free. Thank you for your time and partnership with the 24/7 campaign.
