Good Evening LPMB Families,
Due to the potential for rain/storms tomorrow, the LPMB Staff and LP Administration has decided to cancel Saturday’s rehearsal. Under current COVID-19 guidelines, we do not have access to indoor rehearsal spaces—eliminating our ability to take shelter in the event of inclement weather.
The safety of our students and instructors is our highest priority, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday and Thursday next week.
Additional Note from Mr. Lehman:
The Lake Park High School Lancer Marching Band is special part of our students’ lives, our school culture, and community. There are many aspects of this unique program that make it so significant to all of us: The Band Family, commitment to excellence and achievement, and the respect and rapport we have for each other and the activity. We, as a group, pride ourselves and are defined by working hard, giving our all, committing to our band-mates, and doing our best even at challenging times. It is these attributes that have helped foster a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our members - past, present, and future.
This weekend presents opportunities, choices, and challenges for our students. The Lake Park High School Band Program and the Lake Park High School District #108 Administrative Team is aware that this Saturday marks a ritualistic event coined by students as “Hell Night.” This event is not sanctioned by the Lake Park Band Program, Lake Park Band Auxiliary, or Lake Park High School District #108 Administration. Furthermore, the Lake Park Band Program, Lake Park Band Auxiliary, nor Lake Park High School District #108 Administration condone or support this ritualistic event.
Students are encouraged to socialize, connect, and bond with their peers in safe and responsible ways. Parents are encouraged to inquire of their child’s plans and communicate opportunities for their student to socialize, connect, and bond with their peers in safe and responsible ways.
Student behavior will be subject to district, legal, and community scrutiny. Students not acting in a safe or responsible manner should expect appropriate consequences. from the Lake Park High School Administration, local law enforcement units, and/or the Lake Park High School Band Program.
I am confident in your ability both on and off the field, as performers and young adults, to do your best even at challenging times. I trust that you will continue to be good stewards of the Lake Park High School Lancer Marching Band.
With Gratitude,
Mike
