Good Afternoon, LPMB Families!
We are less than a week away from the conclusion of the 2020 Marching Band Season. Again, the staff and I could not be prouder of what the students have accomplished this year!
Below are several announcements to get us through the end of the season:
· Community Night (10-13-20) Details
· Senior Recognition
· Equipment Return
· Marching Band Awards Night
Community Night (10-13-20) Details
This year’s Community Night performance is on Tuesday, October 13th from 7:30pm-8:00pm in the West Campus Stadium. Gates will open at 7:00pm. As a reminder, the audience is limited to only parents and siblings. Parents and siblings will need to complete a health screening and temperature check similar to what the students do before rehearsals. In order to make this go as smoothly and quickly as possible, please complete the Health Screening Form and bring it with you on October 13th. Paper copies of this form will be provided to students tomorrow to bring home. Additionally, there will be copies available upon arrival if needed.
Families:
· Please sit (socially distanced) in the bleachers. If you traveled in the same car, and live in the same household, you may sit together. There will be six feet between groups, and we will have security in the stands to help monitor and facilitate spacing.
· Please wear masks at all times (Parking Lot, Stadium, etc.)
· Please do not arrive before 7:00pm
· Please do not cluster and mingle at the conclusion of the event
· For family and friends that cannot attend, this event will be recorded and sent out after the event.
Students:
· Rehearsal will start at 6:00pm
· Please wear your 2020 Blue LPMB Shirt (check the weather to determine what layers you wear underneath the shirt)
· Please do not cluster and mingle at the conclusion of the event.
About our show:
This year’s show is a portion of the original production written for the 2020 season, entitled “Happily Ever After.” The entire original production follows a typical fairy tale storyline and this year’s portion represents the introduction of the two main characters (princess—represented by the woodwinds, and prince—represented by the brass). You will notice that every section (Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Guard) have a feature moment in this year’s show. What is appropriate audience etiquette at a marching band show? Audience interaction is a large part of marching band—entertaining the crowd and hearing their appreciation is a staple of the activity! Since the group has not performed publicly this year, understanding where to cheer could be unfamiliar. To help with this, I have put together a quick (2:43) video of one of our run-throughs with applause added for your reference! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKPl-WfwTXY&feature=youtu.be While the stands are limited to only 20% capacity, we’re counting on you for 110% energy and excitement for the kids!
Senior Recognition
We will be recognizing our senior marchers prior to the performance. Seniors and their parents should meet on the track by the south end of the field at 7:20pm. Seniors, please complete the following survey by Friday: https://forms.gle/Xw3wWte5XD7xmUU89
