This October we’re excited to kick off a very special month of open-source contributions—our tenth annual Hacktoberfest! Visit the Hacktoberfest website now to prepare for Hacktoberfest with a wealth of resources for both open-source newcomers and seasoned experts. Then mark your calendar for September 26th when registration opens!  Here are a few ways to participate in Hacktoberfest and help support the open-source community: Prepare and share your project for collaboration Contribute to the betterment of a project via pull requests Organize a Hacktoberfest event Mentor others in the community Donate money directly to open-source projects   Join your fellow contributors in sharing ideas, projects, and inspiration! What’s new for 2023 To ensure Hacktoberfest can be sustained for another decade, this year we’re moving away from a free t-shirt reward to a digital reward. We’re excited to share that we’ll be planting a tree via Tree-Nation for the first 50,000 participants who complete their first accepted pull/merge request.  Join us for the Official Hacktoberfest Kickoff event on Thursday, October 5th, at 11 a.m. EDT.  Make sure to save the date: October 5: Join the conversation and find out What’s New in Open Source Developer Tools at the Hacktoberfest Satellite Session #1.
