Does anyone know of anyone in the PM/Project Management Arena? Or
does anyone know of anyone that would like to have a "non-paying"
role/opportunity to do PM stuff for Open Source (maybe fee based) web
apps?

Hit me up if you know of anyone!

thanks

Ha ha ha - you're not selling it :)

I switched from Software Engineer to Product Manager a few years ago (not sure I would recommend it) and have no hours to volunteer. I am willing to be a phone-a-friend and have a conversation if someone else wants to volunteer to "do the thing".

NOTE: I believe there's a distinction between Product Manager (placing bets) vs Project Manager (herding cats) but certainly a lot of overlap as we just try to get things done.

There are a bajillion resources out there, but here are some of my favorites for Product Manager:
For Project Manager... I have seen several dozen systems and I believe any of them will work - but you need to commit to one and make it work with dedication and communication across team members.

morning alan!!

ouch!!

not buying eh!!

yeah, I've had the "prod mgmt" role, interspersed with the "proj mgmt" functions depending on resources.  you fill in as needed to get things done.

herding cats is an appropriate metaphor!!

im walking through the basic process of taking an idea..  through the steps..  to get to release.  with the appropriate fail gates to kill the process, or to go to the next phase in the basic flow.

A key function, is the role of someone that the "team" would respond to that has the soft skills to move the team/process in an open source process.

So, mulling over some thoughts, doing some cold email "what ifs", etc.

Sometimes, one never knows if something can be done, until u figure out how to do it.

thanks
bruce
