Code Freeze Exception Request: [KEP-6080] DRA Derived Attributes

Hello Release Team and SIG Scheduling,

I would like to request a code freeze exception for KEP-6080 (DRA Derived Attributes). Please find the details below:

  - Enhancement name: DRA Derived Attributes
  - Enhancement status (alpha/beta/stable): alpha
  - SIG: SIG Scheduling (with wg-device-management)
  - k/enhancements repo issue #: https://github.com/kubernetes/enhancements/issues/6080
  - PR #’s: https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/140029
  - Additional time needed (in calendar days, due end of day AoE): 4 days (due July 27, 2026 AoE)
  - Reason this enhancement is critical for this milestone: Getting this implementation into v1.37 as Alpha is essential to trigger our user feedback cycle immediately. Missing this milestone would slip our entire roadmap to Beta by a full release cycle. We are very close to the finish line, and delaying it would be a missed opportunity.
  - Risks from adding code late: The feature is alpha and tightly guarded by a feature gate, minimizing the risk to existing workloads and rest of the ecosystem.
  - Risks from cutting enhancement: There is a strong, immediate need for cross-driver device co-allocation (especially for AI/ML workloads). Cutting this enhancement leaves users without a solution and delays the community's ability to address this urgent use case.

Hi all,

After reviewing the request and the discussion in the referenced Slack thread [0], the Release Team is APPROVING this exception request for a 4 calendar day extension rather than the originally requested 5 days (July 27th AoE).

Based on the agreed 4 calendar day extension, the updated deadline for this KEP is Sunday, 26 July 2026 AoE / Monday, 27 July 2026 at 12:00 UTC.
