I am requesting a code freeze exception for the following enhancement:

  • Enhancement name: Node Log Query

  • Enhancement status: stable (GA promotion)

  • SIG: SIG Windows, SIG Node

  • k/enhancements repo issue: https://github.com/kubernetes/enhancements/issues/2258

  • PR: https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/137544

  • Additional time needed: 3 calendar days

  • Reason this enhancement is critical for this milestone: This is the GA promotion of a feature that has been in beta since Kubernetes 1.30 and in development across seven releases since 1.27. The change locks the NodeLogQuery feature gate to true, removes the +featureGate=NodeLogQuery annotation from types.go, and updates e2e test annotations. No new functionality is being added. The PR already has LGTMs from @marosset and @aravindhp, and active review from @liggitt and @SergeyKanzhelev. All review feedback has been addressed in the latest push.

  • Risks from adding code late: Low. The PR is self-contained: it locks a feature gate, removes a stale annotation, and adjusts test metadata. It does not touch any runtime code paths or introduce new APIs. 

  • Risks from cutting enhancement: The feature remains in beta for another release cycle (approximately 4 months).
