Hello Kubernetes Community!
The Enhancements freeze for Kubernetes v1.28 release
is now in effect from 01:00 UTC Friday, 16th June 2023.
The Enhancements team is currently tracking
55 enhancements for this release.
We had a total of
67 enhancements opted-in to the release,
7 of them are removed from the milestone at the enhancements freeze for missing KEP requirements,
1 deferred to next release and remaining
4 enhancements are waiting to be tracked or removed from the milestone because of minor improvements or have an exception request.

Next Steps for enhancements owners that have their enhancements
tracked for the v1.28 release, please continue to link all
kubernetes/kubernetes[2] and
kubernetes/website[3] pull requests to your
kubernetes/enhancements[4] issue for visibility.
Exceptions:
- If your enhancement is removed from the milestone and want it to be included in the tracking process for this release again then please file an exception request[5].
- Any additional enhancements that wish to join the release now must need an exception request[5] as well.
If you plan to submit an exception request, please submit it as soon as possible.Upcoming dates for the v1.28 release are:
- Code Freeze – 01:00 UTC Friday, 19th July 2023
- Test Freeze – 01:00 UTC Wednesday, 26th July, 2023
- Release Day – Tuesday, 15th August 2023
