Hello Kubernetes Community,

I want to self-nominate for the 2025 Kubernetes Steering Committee Election.

I started contributing to Kubernetes in 2018 through a Google Summer of Code internship. Shortly after, I began my journey with SIG Release. I have worked on important features and releases, mentored new Release Managers and SIG Release contributors, coordinated cross-SIG efforts, and much more.

At the moment, I’m serving as Subproject Lead for Release Engineering, Release Manager, and a Tech Lead for SIG K8s Infra. I’ve been a CNCF Ambassador since November 2023.

I’ve received several community awards, including a Lift and Shift award from CNCF and four Kubernetes Contributor awards (2024, two in 2023, and 2022).

Many open source projects are going through a hard time, including Kubernetes and its community. As a Steering Committee member, I would advocate for prioritizing efforts to mitigate the effects of that. The Steering Committee cannot fix technical problems, but it can support people and ensure the wellbeing of the project.

I would work to ensure the Steering Committee addresses this by setting a clear long-term roadmap, backing SIGs to attract and retain contributors, lowering entry barriers, strengthening inclusivity, and ensuring well-deserved recognition for our community members.

As someone who started contributing as a student and managed to climb the ladder to become a lead, I believe my experience can provide some very valuable perspective.

Thank you,
Marko Mudrinić
