Kubernetes v1.37: Release Cycle Sneak Peek

Hello Kubernetes community,

I hope you had a smooth experience with Kubernetes v1.36 "Haru"[0], our spring release. With that release behind us, the Kubernetes Release Team is now moving into the next release cycle: Kubernetes v1.37[1].

My name is Dipesh Rawat, and I will be serving as the Release Lead for v1.37. On behalf of the Kubernetes v1.37 Release Team, I am happy to share the release schedule and introduce the team helping guide this cycle.

The v1.37 release cycle began on Monday, May 18th, 2026. We are targeting Wednesday, August 26th, 2026 for the final release cut. The full schedule is available here[2].

Major milestones for this cycle:
  • Release Cycle begins: Monday, 18th May, 2026
  • Enhancements Freeze: Tuesday, 16th June, 2026 (End of Day, Anywhere on Earth) / 12:00 UTC Wednesday, 17th June, 2026
  • Code Freeze: Wednesday, 22nd July, 2026 (End of Day, Anywhere on Earth) / 12:00 UTC Thursday, 23rd July, 2026
  • Release Day: Wednesday, 26th August, 2026
Two KubeCon events fall within the release cycle:
  • KubeCon India: Thursday, June 18th - Friday, June 19th, 2026
  • KubeCon Japan: Tuesday, July 28th - Thursday, July 30th, 2026
