Hello, Kubernetes Contributors!

The Kubernetes 2026 Steering Committee Election [0] has begun, and it’s time for you to vote! We have a number of well-known community candidates running for the three (3) seats open on the Steering Committee[1] this year. It’s time for you to choose who will represent you and make important administrative decisions about our project.

## Schedule

You have until Thursday, October 1st to complete your ballot.

You have until Tuesday, September 29th to request a voting eligibility exception.

## Voting

You may check your eligibility to vote and vote on the Kubernetes elections site[2]. You can find out more about how to vote in the app documentation[3].

Log into the election site[2] using your GitHub account, and click “Explore Election” to find the Steering Committee election. The election page will show the list of candidates, as well as whether or not you are currently eligible to vote[4]. The list of eligible voters is also available as a YAML file[5]. If you are marked not eligible despite your contributions, please request an exception[6].

You can (and should) review the candidate profiles on either the elections site or in the election repo. On the site, just click the candidate names to see each candidate’s profile. In the repo, the profiles are available as markdown files with the name “candidate-[candidateGitHubID].md”

Eligible voters should rank candidates in order of preference. Please do your best to rank all candidates and not just a few favorites. However, if you simply can’t decide about a candidate, you may select “No Opinion”.

100% of voting activity happens through the Elections site. You will receive no individual email of any kind.

Welcome, and cast your ballot as soon as you can!

Thank you from all your election officers. If you have any questions,

you can reach us via elec...@k8s.io, or message us on Slack any time.
