SIG Docs Leadership Updates

Hello Kubernetes Community,

We've just welcomed the last release of the year, so a big congratulations to Drew Hagen and the v1.35 Release Team is in order once again. Off the back of the release, SIG Docs wanted to nominate one of our approvers and current release lead shadow, Dipesh Rawat, as a new Tech Lead for the SIG.

Dipesh has ascended the contributor ladder with great expertise, curiosity, and respect for others, all while partnering with other SIG approvers and leads on improvement initiatives, such as helping to review our latest Docsy upgrades and being attentive during each release for PRs needing to be reviewed and merged. He has become an authority for SIG Docs and a reliable partner across many SIGs, and we are extremely excited to have him part of the leadership team. I wanted to send out a special thank you to Tim Bannister for his mentorship during Dipesh's contribution journey as well.

Alongside this change, Rey Lejano will be stepping into the dual role of Tech Lead and SIG Chair, as we ramp up our search to replace ourselves as leaders of the SIG. This change will be effective from 2026.

Given that it's the holiday season, we're happy to add extra time to the lazy consensus period, meaning we'll leave comments open on Dipesh's appointment as SIG Docs Tech Lead up until and including January 1, 2026.
