Hello Kubernetes Community,

Kernel Module Management (KMM) operator v2.7.0 has been released and is now available.

This release includes the following improvements:

New Features
  • Add Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA) support as an alternative to the DevicePlugin API, gated on Kubernetes >= 1.34
  • Add Helm chart deployment for both KMM and KMM-Hub, with helm-deploy / helm-undeploy Makefile targets
  • Add imagePullPolicy configuration to Helm charts for controller and webhook-server deployments

Docs Updated
  • Add DRA support documentation across user-facing and developer docs
  • Update max combined length from 39 to 41 in ordered upgrade documentation

Security
  • Restrict device plugin hostPath volumes to allowed prefixes (/dev/sys/var/opt)

Bugs Fixed
  • Fix device plugin pod not evicted during node drain by introducing a device-plugin-target node label
  • Fix duplicate build/sign pod race condition with deterministic pod naming
  • Fix infinite rebuild loop when adding signing to an existing built module by removing intermediate image concept
  • Fix collision between softdep unloading and hard symbol dependency in modulesLoadingOrder
  • Propagate Module tolerations to image pull pods
  • Remove stale device-plugin-target node labels when spec.devicePlugin is removed
  • Clear stale status.moduleLoader when spec.moduleLoader is removed

More details can be found on the release page [0].
Issues can be reported on GitHub [1].

Thank you,

Yoni Bettan, on behalf of the KMM team
