Kubernetes Release 1.29 Sneak Peek

Hello Kubernetes community!

We hope you all enjoyed the two exciting Kubernetes releases this year. Now, we're gearing up for the third and final release of 2023 Kubernetes 1.29. [0]

The release cycle will begin next week on "Monday, 4th September, 2023" and we’re targeting "Tuesday, December 5th, 2023" for the final release cut.

The tentative major milestones for the 1.29 release[1] are following:
  • Release Cycle begins: Monday, 4th September, 2023
  • Enhancements Freeze: 01:00 UTC, Friday, 6th October, 2023
  • Code Freeze: 01:00 UTC, Wednesday, 1st November, 2023
  • Release Day: Tuesday, December 5th, 2023
My name is Priyanka Saggu and I’m the Release Lead for 1.29.
Angelos Kolaitis, Meha Bhalodiya, Mickey Boxell and Rodolfo Martínez Vega join me as Release Lead Shadows.

With us, we have our amazing role leads:
  • Nina Polshakova as Enhancements Lead
  • Vyom Yadav as CI Signal Lead
  • Yigit Demirbas as Bug Triage Lead
  • Kat Cosgrove as Docs Lead
  • Frederico Muñoz as Release Notes Lead
  • Carol Valencia as Communications Lead
We are happy to have Xander Grzywinski as our Emeritus Adviser. [2]

Starting next week, we’ll send out some more detailed comms about the release.
If you will be opting-in features for this release, we highly encourage you to begin work on the KEPs.
