Hi y'all,
I'd like to formally announce I'll be stepping down from my role as a
co-lead of the Gateway API
GAMMA
initiative.
I'm incredibly proud of the progress we've made over the
past year bringing the expansion of Gateway API to East/West service
mesh use cases from a vague idea to the cusp of an implementable spec, and I’m excited for new leadership to continue this work as it expands beyond basic routing capabilities to more advanced mesh functionality.
I've discussed this with the other Gateway API and GAMMA leads already, and initially announced this during the
June 6th GAMMA meeting. I’m not
quite sure if GAMMA falls under the formal jurisdiction of the SIG/WG
leadership changes procedure, but I’ll suggest following that process and having this this email mark the beginning of the one week lazy consensus period, with the following proposal becoming effective Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 if there are no objections.
I'd
like to nominate Flynn from Bouyant (Linkerd) to replace me. Flynn has
been an active presence in the GAMMA meetings, has contributed
substantially towards helping advance this work, and I think it
will be important to maintain a diversity of service mesh representation in
GAMMA leadership.
Please reach
out to me directly via email (
michael.pat...@gmail.com) or on the Kubernetes Slack (@mike), the GAMMA leads (@Keith Matrix, @John Howard) or the Gateway API leads (@Rob Scott, @shane, @youngnick, @bowei) with any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Mike
