Hello, hello good people of Kubernetes land. (sea? land?) Does not matter. Hello Good Folks!

I want to nominate Priyanka Saggu (@Priyankasaggu11929), for the 2025 elections of the Steering Committee.
I have known her long enough to know what the 11929 in her handle stands for.

I am proud to have mentored her through college and her early career and am even more proud now (ridiculously so), when she is the one who mentors me in my work in the Kubernetes project. My CNCF contributor card shows close to 900 contributions across six repositories. My work as the Github NMC to the project was recognised with a Kubernetes Contributor Award in 2024. (Trust me to make her nomination all about me.)
However, none of this would have been possible without her support and guidance.
And I know for a fact, what she has done for me, she has done for so many others coming to the project.

She loves singing Coco & Wonka songs out loud. She also loves wearing hats. (Hatful of Dreams is her favourite song).
  • She wore a Release Lead Hat to shepherd v1.29 out into the world. (Mandala is the coolest logo) and an Emeritus Advisor hat to guide v1.31 as well
  • She wears a speaker hat (there’s four talks with me alone! in addition to various other talks and panels across Kubecons, KCDs and KubeDays as well as OSS, openSUSE, and GUADEC events across the world).
  • She wore the Co Chair hat for the first ever Maintainer Summit.
  • She has a Github Admin hat, where she keeps the project humming smoothly.
  • She currently sports a fancy hat, serving as Technical Lead to SIG ContribEx where I see her working her tailfeathers off; running meetings across different timezones in the world, and welcoming new folks to the project and talking them throught their doubts and frustrations with the project. In addition, she has consistently vouched for and sponsored folks so that they get opportunities to climb the contributor ladder as well as gain recognition.
  • She also wears a KEP coauthor hat!
In fact they even gave her a log of wood to serve as a big hat, (CNCF Chop Wood, Carry Water 2024 award) to recognise her for her contributions to the project.

She has used her talents and abilities and her platform to do so much good and help so many people.
  • She has given a voice to many new contributors and helped them find their feet in the project. Specially folks from APAC
  • She has ensured the lives of folks in timezones other than North America / Europe are just that much easier and healthier, by having meetings at times friendlier to us
  • She has advocated strenuously for increased local leadership for greater equity in the project.

I want her to have a larger platform to continue doing this. So, if you’re an eligible voter, vote for her you all! Comment on k/community Github issue #8580 with a +1 or a smol supportive statement (Bonus points if you refer to hats.)

Please explicitly state that you are an eligible voter and include your employer’s name so that Election Officers can recognize qualified endorsements.

Give her a bigger hat!

+1

She has helped me a lot while I was starting with contributing to opensource.
