SIG Autoscaling Leadership Change

Hello all,
On behalf of the current SIG Autoscaling leadership (Jack Francis, Adrian Moisey and myself) and as discussed on the SIG weekly meeting on 2026 30 April, Guy Templeton is stepping down from his leadership role within the SIG and we are proposing Jack Francis (@jackfrancis) to replace him as SIG Chair (currently serving as Tech Lead).
Guy's first commit dates to October 2018, and as that suggests he has committed a significant amount of time and energy making the SIG what it is today. Thank you, Guy!!
We are also pleased to propose that Omer Aplatony be recognized as Tech Lead based on his extraordinary work over multiple years on both HPA and VPA. Welcome, Omer!
Finally, in order to better formalize the division of responsibility within the SIG, we are proposing to introduce the following Tech Lead roles:
Node Autoscaling Tech Lead
Workload Autoscaling Tech Lead
The Node Autoscaling Tech Lead will be responsible for ensuring the engineering health of projects like Cluster Autoscaler, Karpenter, and optimizing for common node autoscaling standards and patterns that benefit all projects under the SIG. Similarly, the Workload Autoscaling Tech Lead will do the same for projects like HPA and VPA.
New, proposed structure going forward:
Chairs: Kuba Tużnik, Jack Francis
Tech Leads: Kuba Tużnik (Node Autoscaling), Adrian Moisey (Workload Autoscaling), Omer Aplatony (Workload Autoscaling)
The lazy consensus deadline for this proposal is one week from today - Tuesday the 19th of May.
