Kubernetes has a policy against "excessive campaigning", which in practice means that the candidate is not supposed to promote their own candidacy beyond simple statements that they are running. Further, they should not use any privileged access to large groups (such as specific SIGs, events, or their coworkers) to encourage votes. Judgements on this can be fairly fine-tuned; for example, Steering has previously ruled that a candidate may send an email to their coworkers reminding them of the election, but that email may not contain information on them as a candidate.
