Hi everyone,
After 10 years of contributing to Kubernetes, I'm self-nominating for the 2026 Kubernetes Steering Committee election. I'm running as an independent this year—not representing any company, but rather the community I have grown up in.
I have served as a technical lead for engineering teams since 2013, including the last 8.5 years at Google. Since 2019, I have led minikube, which grew from 35K to 17.9M downloads under my leadership. During this time, I have had the privilege of mentoring hundreds of new contributors for whom minikube served as their primary gateway into the Kubernetes ecosystem.
My involvement in open source goes back to my time in college where I served as the president of the DePaul Linux Community and has continued through dozens of popular projects. I am honored to have been recognized among the top all-time contributors at the Kubernetes 10-year anniversary, with over 7,500 contributions. Most recently, I was ranked #4 for 2025.
Leading minikube taught me how to implement inclusion through practical action:
- Language accessibility: minikube is currently the only Kubernetes CLI tool translated into 12 languages.
- Respecting all users regardless of location: I prioritized support for users on slow or restricted internet connections, specifically across Africa and Asia.
- Un-opinionated flexibility: Providing the broadest platform support to ensure users can choose the tools that fit their specific machines and values.
If elected, I intend to bring this focus to the Steering Committee project-wide. My goals include governance that represents underrepresented voices, removing friction for new contributors across all SIGs, and advocating for a culture of measurable inclusion.
