Introducing SIG Release's subproject leads — Kat, Grace & Marko

SIG Release members and wider Kubernetes Community—

Over the past several release cycles, SIG Release leadership has had the pleasure of watching countless new contributors and leaders emerge across our subprojects.

With the creation of the Subproject Lead as a named role in the project's governance, it's time for us to formally recognize a few of our shining stars!

Starting today, we welcome the following contributors to SIG Release leadership as subproject leads:

• Release Team
• Kat Cosgrove
• Grace Nguyen
• Release Engineering
• Marko Mudrinić

Kat Cosgrove is the Lead Open Source Advocate at Dell Technologies. Her professional career has spanned tools and tech stacks, with a particular focus on DevOps and cloud native technologies. She has been a member of the release team since v1.23, leading both the Comms and Docs subteams, and was the Release Lead for v1.30. She is responsible for a multitude of improvements to both the Docs and Comms subteams, including the Docs Freeze process. She wrote the formal shadow and subteam lead removal guidelines alongside Grace Nguyen.

Grace Nguyen is a graduating student at the University of Waterloo. She has worked in DevOps and security engineering teams for the government, research, startups and big tech. Grace has served on the release team since v1.22 as Enhancements lead, Release Manager Associate, and Release Lead for v1.28. Her contributions to the Release Team include spearheading the switch to the Github project board, merging a new Release Signal team, and co-writing the release team member removal guidelines.

Marko Mudrinić is a Senior Software Engineer at Kubermatic, a Teaching Associate at the School of Computing in Belgrade, Serbia, and a CNCF Ambassador. He's working on different Kubernetes cluster management solutions as part of his job, and he's also active in other areas such as release management and supply chain security. Marko joined SIG Release in late 2018 and has been a part of the 1.14 and 1.15 Release Teams as a Bug Triage Shadow, and the 1.16 Release Team as a Bug Triage Lead. Since then, Marko serves as a Release Manager within the Release Engineering subproject, where he's helping to make Kubernetes releases even more reliable, secure, and stable. As part of his Release Manager role, he leads efforts to introduce and migrate to the new package repositories: pkgs.k8s.io.

It's one of those moments when it's hard to put all the feelings in a single email, but thank y'all for all the patience, all the support, and for being the most awesome bunch of folks ever! Over these 5.5 years since I joined SIG Release, I had an amazing opportunity to work with y'all, to learn so much, and grow further. I'm really thankful for this nomination and for trusting me to lead such an important part of the project!
