Greetings,

I'm happy to announce the start of the release cycle for Kubernetes v1.32, the
third (and last) release of 2024[0]. My name is Frederico Muñoz (Fred, or
Freddy if you're not into the whole brevity thing), and I will be your Release
Lead.

The release cycle will start on Monday, September 9th, with a targeted release
date of December 11th. Important milestones and respective dates are as
follows[1]:

- Start of release cycle: Monday 9th September 2024
- Enhancements freeze: Friday 11th October 2024
- Code & Test freeze: Friday 8th November 2024
- Docs freeze: Tuesday 26th November 2024
- Release day: Wednesday 11th December 2024

I'm honoured to be joined in this release by Nina Polshakova, Mohammad Reza
Saleh Sedghpour, Sreeram Venkitesh, and Vyom Yadav as Release Lead Shadows. The
v1.32 Release Team has been established[2] and we're privileged to have an
amazing group of subteam leads[3]:

- Enhancements Lead: Tyler Schade
- Release Signal Lead: Drew Hagen
- Docs Lead: Daniel Chan
- Release Notes Lead: Satyam Soni
- Communications Lead: Matteo Bianchi
- Branch Manager: Jim Angel

We're also fortunate to have the assistance of Grace Nguyen and Kat Cosgrove,
leads of the Release Team subproject of SIG Release[4] -- doubly so for Kat, who
will also join us as the Emeritus Advisor for this release. On a more personal
note, my very first time as a contributor to the Release Team was in the (now
distant) v1.25 with Kat as my Comms Lead, a testament to the dynamic community
involvement nurtured in the Kubernetes project.

In each release, we strive to integrate improvements and lessons learned from
previous cycles. For v1.32, we have established a common deadline for Code
Freeze and Test Freeze: we expect this to improve the coverage and quality of
tests and, consequently, contribute to the overall stability as code merges for
code freeze.

Keep an eye out for future comms about this release, and don't hesitate to reach
out in the #sig-release[5] channel if you have questions!
