Hello Kubefolks!
I would like to nominate Kat Cosgrove (@katcosgrove) for the 2025 Steering Committee election!
I, like many people, first met Kat during the great dockershim deprecation of 2020, and eventually was fortunate enough to get to work more closely with her in SIG Release! I’ve had the opportunity to watch her grow from a shadow on the 1.23 release team to eventually serving as a subproject owner of the release team and a tech lead for SIG Docs. Kat’s impact in these roles can be seen in policy changes that have improved release team governance, bringing more clarity and transparency to team membership, and better team efficiency. For example, these improvements helped reduce the number of subteams required from 6 to 4, while the number of enhancements that have made it into each release has steadily climbed. Kat has also helped drive greater connection between SIG Docs and SIG Release, which had traditionally been a gap area leading up to the final weeks in each release. This impact resulted in us honoring Kat in the past with a contributor award for her dedication to the project.
Kat has a history of promoting transparency and looking out for contributors, making sure that the release teams are set up for success and she has helped drive improved communication between SIGs. If you’ve ever been to a release team retro, you know she is also not afraid to let us know when we can do better and will drive meaningful improvements. I think her history of promoting transparency and fairness, along with her proven track record of improving the operation of the release team will make her an ideal candidate for the Kubernetes steering committee.
If you agree, please join me in supporting her nomination by leaving a +1 on the nomination issue found at https://github.com/kubernetes/community/issues/8584.
