Hi everyone,

I would like to share an update regarding the leadership of the Checkpoint-Restore Working Group.

Viktória Spišaková has decided to step down from her role, and we would like to nominate Andrey Velichkevich as her replacement.

Andrey has been an active contributor and brings valuable experience with Kubernetes-native distributed AI/ML platforms. He is a key contributor to the Kubeflow project, serves as a leader within the community, and is a member of the Kubeflow Steering Committee. We are confident that the working group will continue to grow and thrive under his leadership.

We want to sincerely thank Viktória for her dedication, leadership, and the significant contributions she has made to the working group. Her efforts have been instrumental in driving the project forward and building a strong, collaborative community.

If you have any concerns about the nomination, please reach out to the current Organizers.

Lazy consensus deadline for this proposal is in one week - 17 April 2026.

Best wishes,
Radostin

Thank you for nominating me for this role, Radostin!

I’m looking forward to working closely with the WG Checkpoint/Restore leads to help ensure Kubernetes provides first-class support for transparent checkpointing and restoring of workloads.
This functionality is essential to efficiently running AI workloads, including both training and inference.

A big shout out to Viktória for all her contributions and dedication!

Regards,
Andrey
