Hi everyone,

I am self-nominating for the 2025 Kubernetes Steering Committee election.

My involvement in the Kubernetes community spans governance and multiple SIGs, including the Steering Committee (2023–2025)SIG Cluster Lifecycle (primarily kubeadm), SIG NodeSIG CLISIG Testing, and the Release Team. Over the years, I’ve been among the project’s most active contributors.

I am currently a member of the Steering Committee, a kubeadm Maintainer, and a SIG Node Reviewer. I started working with Kubernetes in early 2017 and made my first contribution in 2018. I want to continue serving on Steering, and I will keep mentoring and supporting new contributors—just as others supported me.

Community recognition & programs

  • Kubernetes Contributor Awards: SIG Cluster Lifecycle & SIG CLI (2021); SIG Node (2023)
  • Events: Organizer of KCD Chengdu 2022; speaker at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon EU (2023/2024/2025) and China (2021/2023/2024/2025); Co-Chair for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon China 2024; Program Committee Track Chair for KubeCon EU & NA

I also serve as the CNCF TAG Workloads Foundation Chair (2025–2027) and believe the future of foundational cloud-native workloads will be shaped by broad requirements and use cases—including AI workloads. Additionally, I’m a Linux Foundation APAC Evangelist (2024–2025).

Working primarily from China, I’ve seen many new contributors in APAC struggle to get timely responses due to time-zone gaps—we faced this early on as well. I’ve helped newcomers understand processes and guided them to land contributions. I also supported the Kubernetes Contributor Summit at KubeCon China 2023 and multiple KCDs across China.

Serving on Steering (2023–2025) taught me a lot, and I’m grateful to my fellow members and everyone in the community. It’s been an honor to be part of the community, and I’m eager to keep contributing. In my new role as CNCF TAG Workloads Foundation Chair (2025–2027), I can also help strengthen communication with the CNCF and better carry signals between TAG work and Kubernetes.

Thank you,
Paco Xu 徐俊杰
