Oracle / Databases / Versions for KFS and Rice?

Hi All,

Two quick questions and one long one:

• Are you using Oracle for your database?
• If so, what version?
• (And what version of KFS/Rice if it's not the same as your implementer profile)
  

We are looking to upgrade to 12c. I think we are on 11g now. Wondering if you had any issues.  We have the "rice is running as part of KFS" set up on 6.0.1 and will likely upgrade Oracle before we do another KFS upgrade.  I say likely, not certainly since we have to see post FYE what our approach is.

A bit longer question: Do we want to revisit the implementor profile? Or if people are happy with it I'll drop it. Reason being I went there thinking we had Databases on the implementor profile but I don't see it now -

I could have sworn I was adding that kind of info in the past.

I thought we had things like server size and number of users and a lot of other data.  I think it might also be useful to see who is in AWS/self hosted cloud, etc etc now as well.  Also maybe a row for "custom code strategy" - overlay vs modify code.  Right now from a technical standpoint it's not a very useful thing for me to look at, but that's ok if I'm not the intended audience - don't want to make it a burden either.

Hi Sid, we did remove the technical pieces from the implementor profile, I don't recall the reason. We are happy to add back whatever would be helpful. If you'd like to put together a list, we will get them added and populated.

Thanks everyone for your responses.  It sounds promising from what you've said

I'll keep you updated as we get closer to actually upgrading (I was thinking the week of June 25th...what do you think Tammy? =) )

I think realistically the first window we were thinking about was starting in late summer/early fall in non-prod, and then seeing from there when we might be able to go to prod. But first getting through FYE and how our overall projects and resources look after that.

UCD is currently using 11g terminal release – 11.2.0.4.  We are planning to upgrade to 12c but we are converting the databases to AL32UTF8 Character set.  No timeline as of yet.
