Release Date: December 1st, 2025
Hello KPES,
As we enter the holiday season, I’m reminded how special our community is. Thank you for showing up — for your children, your teachers, and each other.
I’m especially grateful this Thanksgiving to be part of such an incredible community — one that continues to show up for our children over and over again. The Book Fair week was long and exhausting, but the love made it worth it. Some of your children ran up to me with hugs, calling me “the Book Fair mom,” and that brought so much joy to my heart. Moments like those remind me why we do this.
Our Most Successful Scholastic Book Fair Yet!
Thanks to our amazing families, staff, and volunteers, this was our best Book Fair to date, with gross sales of $20,620.85!
Because of your support, we’re able to continue giving back — providing books for teachers, families, and restocking our KP Media Center.
This year, Ms. Giron and Ms. Fam have already requested new books to add to our growing collection.
A special thank you to our middle school students who volunteered — you were mature, responsible, and an incredible help during setup and breakdown. Your leadership and teamwork made the entire event run smoothly!
Thank you, KPES, for making reading such a joyful and meaningful part of our children’s school experience.
With gratitude,
Uduak Ogunsiakan

The Kensington Parkwood PTA is thrilled to share the success of our efforts to support our neighbors at Arcola Elementary School!
Thanks to the generosity of our KP families, we made three meaningful donations this season:
Reading Materials: 34 brand-new books from our Scholastic Book Fair were donated to Arcola families for the holidays.
Thanksgiving Pies: We partnered with Dini’s Divine Pies to provide pies for 15 families in need.
Follow Dini’s Divine Pies: @DinisDivinePies on Facebook & Instagram.
Warmth for Winter: We donated warm clothing and outerwear collected during our KP Coat Drive.
It would be wonderful to continue supporting both Arcola’s Linkages to Learning (LTL) program and their Community School Resource Room:
LTL helps only their enrolled clients.
The Resource Room is open to all families in need.
Last week, an Amazon Wish List was created to support both groups. Some KP families were already able to purchase items, and parents “shopped” in the Resource Room for gifts for their children. Any additional support from KPES families would be deeply appreciated.

Items purchased from this list will ship directly to Heather, the Community Liaison, who will make sure gifts reach the students and families who need them most.

A few weeks ago, Jonah Berger joined us at KP to lead a powerful session on inclusion, identity, and celebrating differences. Jonah shared his experience living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease and guided students through hands-on activities to help them understand its impact.
In a moment when empathy and understanding matter more than ever, this assembly offered timely reminders that everyone faces challenges—and that we can learn a great deal from one another by sharing them.
We invite you to print and use the accompanying worksheet as a conversation starter at home to continue exploring these themes together.
To learn more about Jonah’s work, visit therhythmwithin.com. Print the The Top 5 of Me Worksheet and use it with your children.

Our Lost & Found tables are overflowing!
All unclaimed items will be donated on Saturday, December 7.
Families have until Friday, December 6 (during the Art Show) to look through and claim lost items.
Please take a moment to check for jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more!
The PTA is collecting new, unwrapped gifts for KP and Arcola families this holiday season.
Look for our decorated collection bins at both school entrances.
Collection: December 1 – 15
Distribution: On or after December 16
You can also support Arcola families directly through their Amazon Wish List (see link above in the Arcola section). Items purchased will be mailed directly to Heather, the Community Liaison, who will ensure gifts reach the appropriate students and families.
Thank you for helping us share the joy of the season!
