Dear KP Elementary Families,

The KP PTA is reaching out with a friendly but important reminder about the MCPS personal device policy for elementary school students.

Recently, we’ve become aware of instances where phones and other devices have been brought to school and shared among friends during the school day. We understand this is often unintentional, but we wanted to make sure all families are properly informed so we can all address it together at home.

Per MCPS policy, elementary school students are required to keep all personal devices — including phones and smart watches — turned off and stored away throughout the entire school day, including during lunch, recess, and transitions between classes.

We know our teachers are committed to enforcing this, but with growing class sizes, family support makes a real difference. We encourage you to take a moment to talk with your child about the policy and the importance of leaving their personal devices at home or keeping them put away.

Our goal, as always, is to support a focused and positive learning environment for every KP elementary school student. Thank you for your continued partnership in making that happen.
