Help needed to clear the icy Blacktop!

Hi KP family,

I’m reaching out to ask for a little help for our kiddos.

Right now, the school blacktop is still covered in ice and snow, which means recess remains 100% indoors until it can be safely cleared. 

Our kids went from snow days playing outside with friends, building igloos, sledding with friends, and are now cooped up inside for the entire school day. 

We’re hoping to organize a community-driven effort this weekend (February 7–8) to help shovel and break up the ice on the blacktop. The county will not be clearing this area, so it’s truly up to us if we want to help get our kiddos back outside next week.

If you’re able to stop by for any amount of time this weekend with a shovel or whatever helpful tool you have, it would really make a difference. Even 15–20 minutes of help adds up quickly when we can all show up together.

Our kids can’t do this themselves, but our KP community can!
