I hope everyone is having a good summer so far! We're in the process of transitioning from last school year's PTA board to one for the upcoming school year. We've got much to be thankful for as our KP community is an incredibly engaged and caring one! It is thanks to your support that our school is such a special place of learning, growing and thriving for our kids both as students and as overall well-rounded young individuals. The PTA is comprised of all volunteers, as most of you already know, and most with full-time jobs as well as juggling many things in life, so I am extra appreciative to all of those who have donated their time and energy to serve with me on the PTA board for these past few years (2 as President and 1 as the VP of Membership & Fundraising). Each and every one of them has contributed something special and been a big help to our kids!
Besides my gratitude to each of our board members, I also would like to acknowledge and thank the many other volunteers who have served on the various committees and those who have volunteered at the wonderful annual events we have. You are all unsung heroes to our school community.
Our school is also very fortunate for the steadfast leadership of Principal Ross and her amazing team -- from the front office staff, building services and incredible teachers. They're a great group of people and together create an awesome learning environment.
I stepped into this PTA President role reluctantly a few years ago, as nobody else wanted to do it then, to be perfectly honest. Ultimately, I'll say it was an interesting experience and I've learned a lot and been surrounded by some remarkable parents, particularly on the board -- without whom we could not accomplish many of the things we're tasked with doing each school year. There are always some regrets and nobody is perfect, and I'm sure I made some mistakes along the way, but we did the best we could given the list of things to do combined with the time constraints of everyday life.
I am very excited for what's coming next school year and am extra appreciative to Denise Gomez Oluwo for stepping into the President role! Many of you already know Denise and her highly dedicated involvement with the PTA board (she's been the VP of Membership & Fundraising for the past few years). She'll do a great job leading the new board and they'll continue serving KP quite well!
I've got a small request. If you've thought about volunteering but haven't yet, try it out -- whether it just be 30 minutes at recess or lunch once a week, offering to help with an event or staff morale or with the green team. Your efforts, while they may seem small to you, all add up. Also, don't forget to renew your membership to the EagleFund, update your child's grade and contact info., and donate at the start of the school year (so you don't forget to)!
I'll continue to be around and help from time to time as we still have 1 kid at KP. In case any of you need to reach me for any reason one of my personal emails is
stevehu...@gmail.com. I tend to check it every few days on average.
You're in great hands with the incoming board and know they'll play a very helpful part in making it another memorable school year!
Enjoy the rest of your summers!
With gratitude,
Steve
